JEFFREY D. BATT

I always lived the life of an artist, but photography is the most powerful channel for my creativity.

I am passionate about capturing small details, looking at life from different perspectives, wandering off the beaten path and finding unique solutions to problems. I believe a well-documented life is the kind of life worth living.

My love of photography was discovered later on. I took no photo classes in high school and did not start to develop my skills until years after college. But I think the inspiration came from my Grandfather who always had a camera on him, and from my Father who took an interest in birds and wildlife subjects when he worked for Kodak in the 1970s. I bought an old film camera from a family member in 2008, with lofty aspirations to someday be a wildlife or landscape photographer. I never dreamed it would start me on such an epic journey.

I obtained a 4 year degree in graphic design from Cabrini University in 2007 and currently work full time in the digital printing industry. The skills I learned as a designer allow me to use this knowledge of line, color, symmetry and composition to 'paint' with a camera. I went back to school to finally get certified in photography in 2021, but I had already taught myself before with more than a decade of practical experience by taking 10,000 photos a year. (I know this for a fact because my camera counter reaches IMG_9999 and rolls over every June.)  I am very active on social media, and followers love to watch endless adventures play out through my visual diary.

Many people are too busy these days to go on vacation, or their work situation prevents them from having the life they want, I've been there. What if I was able to bring the vacation to you?  My goal in all my travels is to let others live vicariously through my images and feel as if they were there with me. When you look at my art on your wall, I hope it can draw you in, take you to these places spiritually, offer a momentary escape and some peace in stressful times.
